After the initial Need For Speed Shift Interview found here, Jesse Abney is back to answer a few more questions. The interview questions a few circulating ideas to whether or not Shift will be a true racing simulator. As mentioned in our preview, Shift has been strongly marketed as a realistic racing game and will be quite different to previous Need For Speed games.
In one particular quote in the Interview, Jesse states that “The design intent for SHIFT is to keep the game accessible to everyone but to also provide flexibility to keep the most expert players challenged.” He goes on to say that
It looks like Shift will have a similar career system to Race Driver Grid, with a number of different racing disiplines to which drivers must complete – Including drift, “Yes, Drift is a key aspect to our career event structure and is supported by the physics engine.” said Jesse Abney.
The answer we found the most interesting was when the interviewer asked Jesse – “Does the driving feel realistic or is it arcade like the NFS predecessors?”, to which Jesse stated that the Slightly Mad Studios physics engine is “highly-advanced and calculates manufacturer chassis information with industry-leading realism”.
We are hoping for big things to come from Shift and only time will tell if it does succeed at being the true Realism Gaming Simulator.
