In a recent announcement, the development team who created Live For Speed are in the process of redesigning the a new core tyre model for Live For Speed. It has been a while since any formal announcements have been made by the development team, this recent news of the tyre model has required quite a lot of old programming to be removed and refined in order for the new model to work correctly. The verdicts by beta testers of the new system were unanimous, they thought the new tyre physics model makes the cars in Live For Speed much better and more realistic to drive.

Inside Sim Racing have reviewed the latest wheel from Logitech, the G27 Racing wheel. With no information except for a few rumors and some “claimed” photos which were in fact accurate to the real thing, it came as quite a surprise when Logitech released the information to the general public.

The last few months have been filled with speculation, rumors and “claimed” photos with no claimed sources. We are happy to announce that the Logitech G27 has been officially announced. The Logitech G27 steering wheel now appears on the official Logitech Web site and features some very interesting stats:

Performance

  • Dual-motor force feedback mechanism with helical gearing: Experience traction loss, weight shift, and road feel recreated smoothly and accurately, while enjoying the exceptionally quiet steering action.
  • RPM/shift indicator LEDs: Keep an eye on the indicator panel to know just when to shift gears for maximum torque (in supported games).
  • Sixteen programmable buttons plus D-pad: Map useful game functions to locations that make sense to you—whether on the wheel itself or on the shift module.
  • 900-degree wheel rotation: Turn 2.5 times around lock-to-lock, just as you would behind the wheel of many real cars.
  • Ultra-precise optical encoding: A sensor constantly tracks the wheel, ensuring that any movement you make is reflected in-game, without dead zones or lag.
  • Carpet grip system: Retractable teeth flip down to keep the pedals from sliding around on carpeting.

Realism

  • Realistic 11” (28cm) wheel with leather-wrapped rim: Enjoy true-to-life racing experience from the start line to the checkered flag.
  • Six-speed shifter with push-down reverse gear: Quickly select exactly the right gear for the turn or the straightaway.
  • Steel gas, brake, and clutch pedals: Sturdy true-to-life pedals deliver precise throttle, braking, and shifting control for heightened realism.

Durability

  • Steel ball bearings: Two sets of solid steel ball bearings support the wheel shaft, for superb performance and long-term reliability.
  • Hard points: All three components (wheel console, pedals, and shifter module) can be bolted to a table other surface for a solid racing experience.

Compatibility

  • Platform and game support: Works with PC, PlayStation®2, and PLAYSTATION®3 racing games, including Gran Turismo® 5 Prologue.

Endurance Series Mod Now Available

In a truly remarkable effort by “Enduracers”, the first package of the Endurance Series mod for rFactor is now available for download. The first package is an initial release which contains the base mod which includes the first pack of cars, while Enduracers will release “Service Packs” which will add new car models, sounds, physics and skins.
